  • Kristina Dobyns

    Kristina Dobyns is a research associate with the National Council on Crime and Delinquency. She earned a B.S. from Howard University, majoring in psychology with a minor in anthropology. She also studied American Sign Language at Gallaudet University. Kristina works on the Center’s Latino mobilization effort, Por La Paz Network.


  • Troy Duster, Ph.D.

    Troy Duster joined UC Berkeley’s sociology faculty in 1979 and has been a professor at New York University since 1999. Previously, he was director of the Institute for Study of Social Change, located at UC Berkeley. He is a past president of the American Sociological Association. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from Northwestern University.


  • Juan Francisco Esteva Martinez

    Juan Esteva Martinez is a student advising officer in UC Berkeley’s Academic Achievement Programs. He is a founding member and coordinator of La Colectiva de Critical and Active Research, a project of UC Berkeley’s Center for Latino Policy Research. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in sociology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany.

    Maria Guadalupe (Lupe) Gallegos-Diaz received her B.A. in sociology from Santa Clara University, MSW from UC Berkeley, certificate in development from University of San Francisco, and is working on her Ph.D. at Berkeley on mujeres (women) in the nonprofit sector. She has taught at Cañada College and UC Berkeley in the areas of leadership, community development, Chicano history/culture, philanthropy, nonprofits, and fundraising. She is director of UC Berkeley’s Chicano/Latino Student Development, part of Multicultural Student Development, and serves on the Center’s University-Community Network committee.
