    Kit Cho participates in the Center’s API mobilization effort. She is a unit supervisor, juvenile supervision with the Alameda County Probation Development. She previously was a deputy probation officer and a unit supervisor of the adult investigation unit. She has also worked with disadvantaged API youth and their families at Chinatown Youth Center in San Francisco and Oakland Chinese Community Council in Oakland (now Family Bridges, Inc.).

    As a partner in the criminal justice system, the Alameda County Probation Department protects and serves the community, offers services to victims, and provides rehabilitative opportunities to offenders in compliance with state law. The Probation Department works with more than 2,000 wards and 18,000 adult probationers.


  • George Galvis

    George Galvis is collaborative director for the One Land, One People collaborative of Youth Together, located at Skyline High School in Oakland. Since 1993, George has been a community worker promoting non-violent values and strategies. He is an educator, activist, writer, consultant, trainer, and speaker in areas including youth development and organizing, violence prevention, and restorative justice for youth. He co-founded several community based organizations and programs, including the San Mateo County chapter of Barrios Unidos, a grassroots organization committed to preventing and curtailing youth violence. He has a BA in ethnic studies and a master’s degree in city planning and community development, both from UC Berkeley.


  • Maria del Pilar Tudela Vazquez

    Maria del Pilar Tudela-Vazquez participates in the Center’s Latino mobilization effort. As the adult services supervisor in La Clínica’s Community Health Education department, she oversees two health promoter programs and a domestic violence prevention program focusing on community capacity building, leadership development, and community organizing.

    La Clínica’s mission is to improve the quality of life of the diverse communities it serves by providing culturally appropriate, high quality and accessible healthcare for all. Beyond providing direct services, La Clínica has a history of facilitating social change around community issues - including safety, violence prevention, immigration reform, and health policy - that impact the lives of families in its neighborhoods.
